The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival officially kicks off the Christmas season in Chicago. Over 1 million people turned out this year to see the 19th Annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.

This year the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association planned the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival bigger and brighter than ever. Sponsors such as Eli’s Cheesecake, The John Hancock Observatory and Chevy put together numerous family activities throughout the day leading up to the big parade. Performers on the Harris Bank Stage included Radio Disney, Choo Choo Soul and American Idol’s Crystal Bowersox.

The finale to the day of festivities was the procession led by Grand Marshal, Mickey Mouse who was joined for the first time by Minnie Mouse. Together they illuminated over one million lights on trees along Michigan Avenue, culminating in a spectacular firework show officially kicking off the Holiday season.
